The Gate Theatre is seeking an experienced Café Supervisor to work front of house during theatre hours.

Duties include:

1. Maintaining adequate stock supplies, ordering when necessary.
2. Allocating duties to other staff members
3. Cleanliness of cafe and equipment. i.e., coffee pots, tea towels etc. regular emptying of bins.
4. Programme and Cash Floats counted and checked nightly.
5. Rotating Sweet stock and Fridge stock, ensuring it’s not out of date
6. Ensuring a high quality of service and presentation.

The successful candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience working in a busy customer service role, with an ability to drive excellent customer care, be a strong team player and have strong numeracy and cash handling skills.


Essential skills include:

  • At least 2 years’ experience at service or retail level, delivering high standards of customer service.
  • A friendly and amenable persona and a team player – able to remain polite and calm, with a professional attitude.
  • Competence in the knowledge and application of Health & Safety regulations


Desirable qualities:

  • An understanding of the front of house department within a theatre
  • A qualification in first aid
  • Experience in till usage
  • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for the performing arts and entertainment
